1796 – George Washington‘s farewell address was printed across America as an open letter to the public on the 19th day of September in 1796.

1946 – The 1st Cannes Film Festival was held on the 19th day of September in 1946, after being delayed 7 years due to World War II.

1947 – Lol Creme the English singer and musician from 10cc, Godley & Creme, Art of Noise and many other bands, was born on the 19th September 1947.

1949 ~ Twiggy the 1960’s English model, actress, and singer was born Lesley Lawson on the 19th September 1949.

1952 – Charlie Chaplin was barred from re-entering The United States, after a trip to England on the 19th day of September in 1952.

1967 – Gunnar Nelson & Matthew Nelson the American musician twins from the band Nelson were born on the 19th day of September in 1967.

1970 – The 1st Glastonbury Festival was held at Michael Eavis‘s farm in Glastonbury, United Kingdom on the 19th day of September in 1970.

1981 – Simon & Garfunkel reunited for a free concert in New York’s Central Park on the 19th day of September in 1981.

The text of Scott Fahlman’s original proposal, posted to the Carnegie Mellon University computer science general board on 19 September 1982 at 11:44am, was thought to be lost, but was recovered by Jeff Bairdfrom old backup tapes, 20 years later.

1809 – The Royal Opera House in London opened on the 18th day of September in 1809.

1837 – Tiffany and Co. (originally named Tiffany & Young) was founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany and Teddy Young in New York City on the 18th day of September in 1837. The store was called a “stationery and fancy goods emporium”.

1851 –  The New York Times (originally named New-York Daily Times) was 1st published on the 18th day of September in 1851.

1870 – Old Faithful Geyser was observed and named by Henry D. Washburn during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition to Yellowstone on the 18th day of September in 1870.

1919 – The Netherlands gave women the right to vote on the 18th day of September in 1919.

1971 ~ Jada Pinkett Smith the American actress married to Wil Smith was born on the 18th day of September in 1971.

2012 ~ KATE & WiLLS won an injunction banning the topless pictures of Kate Middleton on the 18th day of September in 2012. A French court banned Closer magazine from any further publication or resale of the topless pictures of Prince William’s wife Catherine “Kate” Middleton.
