1836 – Samuel Colt made the 1st production-model revolver, the .34-caliber, on the 5th March 1836.

1948 – Eddy Grant the Guyanese-English singer-songwriter and guitarist was born 5th March 1948.

1958 – Andy Gibb the English-Australian singer was born 5th March 1958 (d. 1988).

1962 – Charlie Reid the Scottish singer-songwriter from The Proclaimers and his twin brother Craig were born 5th March 1962.

1990Alana Blanchard the American professional surfer and Bikini Model was born on the 5th March 1990 in Kauai, Hawaii, United States. At 22 years of age Alana Blanchard gained fame as one of the best female surfers. Alana surfs on the ASP World Tour, and is also involved in designing Rip Curl bikinis. Alan Blanchard is best friends with fellow surfer Bethany Hamilton, and was with Bethany when she lost her arm in a shark attack. Alana was played by actress Lorraine Nicholson in the 2011 film Soul Surfer. Alana Blanchard currently has her own show Surfer Girl, which follows her life in Kauai as a professional surfer and model. www.facebook.com/AlanaBlanchardFanPage
