ANZAC DAY ~ 25th April 2014

99th Anniversary ~ Lest we forget

Anzac Day is the national day of remembrance annually held in Australia and New Zealand, commemorating all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations, and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served. The 25th of April was officially named Anzac Day in 1916, when it originally honoured the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.

ANZAC BiSCUiTS

Anzac Biscuits have long been associated with the Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) established in World War I. They are a sweet biscuit popular in Australia and New Zealand made from rolled oats, flour, desiccated coconut, sugar, butter, golden syrup, baking soda and boiling water. It’s said that the biscuits were sent by wives to the soldiers abroad, because the ingredients kept well during naval transportation, and did not spoil easily.
