1582 – In Stratford-upon-AvonWilliam Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway paid a £40 bond for their marriage licence on the 28th November 1582.

1814 – The Times in London was printed by automatic, steam powered presses for the 1st time on the 28th November 1814, signaling the beginning of the availability of newspapers to a mass audience.. The steam powered presses were built by the German inventors Friedrich Koenig and Andreas Friedrich Bauer.
