1665 – The London Gazette the the oldest surviving journal was 1st published on the 7th November 1665.

1728 – James Cook the English navy officer, explorer, and cartographer was born on the 7th November 1728 (died 1779).

1786 – The oldest musical organization in the United States was founded as the Stoughton Musical Society on the 7th November 1786.

1837 – In Alton, Illinoisabolitionist printer Elijah P. Lovejoy was shot dead by a mob on the 7th November 1837, while attempting to protect his printing shop from being destroyed for the 3rd time.

1861 ~ ARCHER the Australian Thoroughbred racehorse won the 1st MELBOURNE CUP on the 7th November 1861.

1874 – A cartoon by Thomas Nast in Harper’s Weekly on the 7th November 1874 was considered the 1st important use of an elephant as a symbol for the United States Republican Party.

1879 – Leon Trotsky the Russian theorist and politician and founder of the Red Army was born on the 7th November 1879 (died 1940).

1908 – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were reportedly killed on the 7th November 1908, in San Vicente, Bolivia.

1910 – The 1st air freight shipment was undertaken on the 7th November 1910, by the Wright Brothers and department store owner Max Moorehouse, from Dayton, Ohio, to Columbus, Ohio.

1912 – The Deutsche Opernhaus (now Deutsche Oper Berlin) opened on the 7th November 1912 in the Berlin neighborhood of Charlottenburg, with a production of Beethoven‘s Fidelio.

1940 – In Tacoma, Washington, the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapsed in a windstorm on the 7th November 1940, only 4 months after the bridge’s completion.

1949 – The 1st oil was taken in Oil Rocks (Neft Daşları) on the 7th November 1949, on the World’s 1st offshore oil platform.

1957 – Cold War: The Gaither Report called for more American missiles and fallout shelters on the 7th November 1957.

1963 – Wunder von Lengede (Miracle of Lengede): 11 miners were rescued from a collapsed mine In Germany, after 14 days. The children’s television series Thunderbirds (1964–1966) rescue organisation was inspired by the diasaster.

1964 – Sandra Denton the American rapper from Salt-N-Pepa was born on the 7th November 1964.

1967 – Carl B. Stokes was elected as Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio on the 7th November 1967, becoming the 1st African American mayor of a major American city.

1987 – Singapore’s 1st Mass Rapid Transit line was opened on the 7th November 1987, starting with train services between Yio Chu Kang and Toa Payoh stations.

1988 ~ Tinie Tempah the English rapper was born Patrick Okogwu   in London on the 7th November 1988.
