1283 – Dafydd ap Gruffydd the prince of Gwynedd in Wales, became the 1st nobleman executed by being hanged, drawn and quartered on the 3rd of October in 1283.

1762 – Anton Bernolák the Slovak Catholic priest and linguist was born on the 3rd October 1762 (died 15th January 1813 aged 50). Anton Bernolák was the author of the first Slovak language standard.

1835 – The Staedtler Company was founded in Nuremberg, Germany on the 3rd of October in 1835.

1995 – O. J. Simpson was acquitted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman on the 3rd of October in 1995.
