1954 ~ Chopper Read the Australian former criminal and author was born Mark Brandon Read in Melbourne on the 17th November 1954 (died 9th October 2013 aged 58). Chopper Read wrote a series of semi-autobiographical and fictional crime novels, selling more than 500,000 books including Chopper: From the Inside (1991), Chopper 2: Hits and Memories (1992), Chopper 3: How to Shoot Friends & Influence People (1993), Chopper 4: For the Term of His Unnatural Life (1994), Chopper 5: Pulp Faction: Revenge of the Rabbit Kisser and Other Jailhouse Stories (1995), Chopper 6: No Tears for a Tough Guy (1996), Chopper 7: The Singing Defective (1997), Chopper 8: The Sicilian Defence (1998), Chopper 9: The Final Cut (1999), Chopper 10 1⁄2: The Popcorn Gangster (2001) and Hooky the Cripple children’s book.

After 25 years in the making, finally Finn and Kelly will tour Australia together in February and March 2013. Neil Finn and Paul Kelly will kick off this great music event in Melbourne on the 16th February 2013, with special guest Lisa Mitchell.

Neil Finn and Paul Kelly first played together 25 years ago in 1987, when Paul Kelly & The Messengers opened for Crowded House on their American tour.

ANiMAL AiD is having an OPEN DAY on the afternoon of Sunday the 18th November 2012, from 1pm – 4pm at the Coldstream facility, at 35 Killara Road in Coldstream, Victoria (Australia). Meet the Animal Aid team and some beautiful companion animals available for adoption, for a fun afternoon with many activities:

  • Cat and Dog Q&A sessions
  • BBQ & Live music
  • Face painting & rides for the kids
  • Guided tours of Animal Aid
…also meet Sampson; the weight loss wonder dog who has lost 45kg!.. Spend some time with the fabulous felines in the Cattery, and walk the Animal Rehabilitation Trail to learn about the work with shelter dogs. Take your family and animal loving friends to see what’s happening at the shelter.
