Sam Sejavka grew up in Mount Waverley, a suburb of Melbourne, and started his music career as a vocalist and song writer in the band The Ears. The 1986 film Dogs in Space drew inspiration from various episodes of Sam’s life during the late ’70s, which was written and directed by Sam’s friend Richard Lowenstein. The Dogs in Space film title comes from a song of the same name by The Ears. The main character of Sam was played by Michael Hutchence.
