TURNER (Joseph Mallord William Turner) the English romantic landscape painter, watercolourist and printmaker was born on this 23rd day of April in 1775 (died in 1851 aged 76). Turner was renowned for his oil paintings, and elevated landscape painting to rival history painting. 1966 ~ JiM STYNES the Irish born Australian rules football player and philanthropist was born on this 23rd day of April in 1966. During Jim’s 264 game career with the Melbourne Football Club from 1987 to 1998, he became the only non-Australian-born VFL / AFL player to win the Brownlow Medal. Jim Stynes was also the president of the Melbourne Football Club from 2008, and helped bring the club out of debt. In 2009, Jim was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, but continued to work during his treatment.

Jim Stynes died on the 20th March 2012 aged 45, but his legacy lives on after all the youth work he did in the launch of The REACH FOUNDATiON, which he co-founded in 1994.
