1283 – Dafydd ap Gruffydd the prince of Gwynedd in Wales, became the 1st nobleman executed by being hanged, drawn and quartered on the 3rd of October in 1283.

1762 – Anton Bernolák the Slovak Catholic priest and linguist was born on the 3rd October 1762 (died 15th January 1813 aged 50). Anton Bernolák was the author of the first Slovak language standard.

1835 – The Staedtler Company was founded in Nuremberg, Germany on the 3rd of October in 1835.

1849 – Edgar Allan Poe the American author was found delirious in a gutter in Baltimore, Maryland under mysterious circumstances on the 3rd of October in 1849. This was the last time Edgar Allan Poe was seen in public before his death.

1990 ~ RE-UNiFiCATiON Of GERMANY happened on the 3rd of October in 1990. The German Democratic Republic ceased to exist and its territory became part of the Federal Republic of Germany. This historic event is now celebrated as GERMAN UNiTY DAY annually on the 3rd day of October.

1995 – O. J. Simpson was acquitted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman on the 3rd of October in 1995.

2003 – Roy Horn of Siegfried & Roy was attacked by one of the show’s tigers on the 3rd of October in 2003, causing cancellation of the show until 2009, when they both rejoined the tiger that mauled Roy.
