1862Anton Ažbe the Slovene realist painter and teacher of painting was born on the 30th May 1862 (died August 1905).

1908 – Mel Blanc the American voice actor and singer was born on the 30th May 1908 (died 1989).

1909 – Benny Goodman the American clarinet player, songwriter, and bandleader was born on the 30th May 1909 (died 1986).

1928 ~ Pro Hart the Australian painter was born on the 30th May 1928 (died 28th March 2006 aged 77).

1959 – The Auckland Harbour Bridge over Waitemata Harbour in AucklandNew Zealand was officially opened on the 30th May 1959, by Governor-General Charles Lyttelton, 10th Viscount Cobham.

1966Surveyor 1 the 1st US spacecraft to land on an extraterrestrial body was launched on the 30th May 1966.
