1729 ~ Anton Cajetan Adlgasser the German organist was born in Inzell, Bavaria on the 1st October 1729 (died 1777 aged 48). Anton was an organist and composer at Salzburg Cathedral and court, and composed liturgical music (including 8 masses and 2 requiems) as well as oratorios and orchestral and keyboard works. Anton moved to Salzburg where he studied under Johann Ernst Eberlin. In 1767 he collaborated with Mozart and Michael Haydn on the oratorio Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots. Mozart had a high regard for Anton’s music, and succeeded him as organist at Salzburg Cathedral in 1777 when he died. Anton died of a stroke suffered while playing the organ at Salzburg in 1777.
